Dear Kappa Sisters,

I feel like spring is right around the corner and it can’t come fast enough. I don’t know about you, but I am really ready for the snow to leave and the sun to take over. Many of us were able to brighten our snowy days with a wonderful winter party. Thanks to Susan McQueeny Scholes and Heather Holder-Leitch for coordinating and hosting the event. Susan and Andy Cope were so gracious to open up their lovely home for this wonderful evening. Everything was outstanding. If you were unable to attend, you missed a great evening of socializing and reacquainting with many Kappa members and friends.

On February 2nd, the association meeting was held at Churchill Fine Jewelry and Antiques, owned by our own Sally Hilkene. Sally was more than generous to open up her shop to us and then give a percentage of the sales from that evening back to Kappa. It truly was a treat to spend the evening mingling and shopping at Sally’s unique shop. The major business topic was the presentation of the Tour proceeds to the 2009 Tour recipients. Representatives from Higher M-Pact and DeLaSalle Education Center were on hand to receive their checks. A highlight of the evening was that we were able to give them more than they had originally requested because the Tour was so successful. We voted on our new slate of officers and the Tour proceeds recipients for 2010. Teresa Perky and her committee spent many hours going through applications and narrowing the recipients down. Thank you so much for the great amount of energy you all put into this decision. A huge thank you, as well, to Nan Vail and the nominations committee for putting together a fantastic slate of officers. At present, we have only one position left to fill, Underwriting for the Homes Tour. If you are interested in this position, please contact Nan.

This summer we will be sending two delegates to National Convention. Kristen Schotte will be our delegate and then an alternate delegate will also attend. This years convention will be held once again in Phoenix, Arizona, June 23 - 27.
The Leadership Academy is another opportunity for members to learn about Kappa and leadership opportunities. This year the workshop is Sept. 16-19th.

Please note that our next association meeting will be at the home of Susan Spaulding on April 13th at 10:00 a.m. We are so fortunate to have Vivien Jennings, owner of Rainy Day Books, as our program at this meeting. Vivien will be discussing hot summer reads as well as upcoming events sponsored by her shop. I hope to see you there!

Love and Loyally,
Kristen Schotte
