Dear
Kappa Sisters,
Reflecting back at our 2011-12 Kappa Calendar year the word ENERGY
comes to my mind, yes I feel our association is full of energy!
This last year
our 657 association members staffed 3 boards; Alumnae, Homes Tour and
Panhellenic. We hosted 4 general association meetings, 5 association
board
meetings, sponsored 4 area active chapters, organized our 60th annual
homes tour that raised just under $75,000 in which 2/3rds was distributed
to two local non for profits, and 1/3 to our Kappa Foundation.
We also organized a successful reading philanthropic project at The
Children’s Place, published and mailed 4 Krier newsletters and
maintained 2 websites; www.kckappas.com and www.kappahomestour.com.
In addition we participated in social events at night & day including
our annual Founders Day, Patron Party, Preview Luncheon, Winter Party
and gathered area sisters in neighborhoods according to zip code. At
our 4 general association meetings we welcomed new members, educated
Kappas on our 60th annual tour, shared and tasted our favorite recipes
with sisters, learned how to keep our hearts
healthy and how to nurture our green thumbs.
We sent representatives
to a province meeting in Columbia, MO as well as Leadership Academy
in Columbus, Ohio. Our association members participated in advising
the active chapters of; Theta, Omega, Gamma Alpha and Zeta Zeta as
well as being represented on the Fraternity level. These accomplishments
are all possible because of YOU and I thank you Kappas, for keeping
us strong! Did you know that we are one of the oldest (chartered in
1900), and
possibly the oldest alumnae association in KC? How fortunate I am to
be a Kappa and part of this Association. Cheers to our ENERGY!
Loyally,
Jennifer Garrett Hart
