IN MEMORIAM
Margaret Wernott Basso,
University of Missouri 1973
Died November 28, 2009.

Dear fellow Kappas,

My name is Meghan Gardiner and I'm a Kappa alum from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I am writing to let you know of a sexual assault prevention tool for your local chapter, and alumni societies.

While I was a proud Kappa at UBC, I had my drink spiked and was assaulted at a party. I relied greatly on my Kappa sisters for support, and two years after graduating in 2001 with a BFA in acting, I premiered a play entitled Dissolve in Vancouver. I am still performing the piece today, having reached nearly 400 shows at colleges and universities across the continent. I recently had the honour of being a keynote speaker at the Toronto Police Service’s International Conference on Sex Crimes. Due to the overwhelming success of my work, I have created a documentary film on the issue of drug facilitated sexual assault.

If I had seen this film in college, things may have turned out differently for me. My goal is to make this film available to all college students, and am especially interested in reaching the sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Please consider buying this film for your chapter. I have never visited a school (or city for that matter) where this issue has not been a major problem.

For more information on the film, please visit www.dissolvethemovie.com

To order, please email mailbox@movingimages.ca or call 1.800.684.3014

I'd also be happy to personally answer any questions you may have.

Loyally,

Meghan Gardiner

TOUR BOARD

As we complete our 58th Kappa Kappa Gamma Holiday Homes Tour, it’s time to thank all the Kappas who volunteered countless hours in the last year to make this another successful tour.

So, take a bow. Pat yourselves on the back. Members of the tour board and Kappa volunteers who helped at the homes, the luncheon and the shop, we salute you for your dedication and hard work!

We had a lovely Patrons’ Party, a sell-out Preview Luncheon, four
beautiful homes, enticing shop wares, lots of group ticket sales, a snazzy program and first-rate publicity. It was truly a class act! We’ll let you know the final numbers as soon as it all gets figured out.

Tour board members: To assist with planning for next year’s tour, please e-mail your reports on the details of your job, a timeline and recommendations for next year soon. Send to Melissa Harmon, Lindsey Horner and Cindy Couch. And don’t forget that we can raise still more money for our tour recipients this Christmas season through the purchase of Lyman Whitaker wind sculptures at Leopold Gallery. Kappa will receive 10 percent of the sales of the wind sculptures if purchasers mention that they saw them at the tour.

This special arrangement was intended to apply to purchases from Dec. 1 through Christmas. But Paul Dorrell, the gallery president, says he will give us 10 percent of the sales stem-ming from the tour through 2010 because it sometimes takes people a while to follow through with a purchase.

Now relax after all your hard work!

Loyally,
Melissa Harmon, Lindsey Horner and Cindy Couch
